Welcome ASORN Attendees!
It is an honor to invite you to this year's Annual Meeting, "Chicago 2010: Winds of Change in Ophthalmic Care." ASORN is pleased to introduce the Annual Meeting Program solely online for the very first time. ASORN is making big changes!
The Planning Committee has worked hard to build a program that meets your needs, and will enrich your knowledge as a member of the ophthalmic team. American healthcare is transforming and we are striving to prepare our members for this new world.
The Planning Committee is excited about devoting Day 1 of this year’s program to the ASC/OR. We have carefully chosen topics and speakers who are leaders in their respective fields. You will travel through the world of Medicare Infection Control Standards in the ASC-Legislation and Requirements, The Documentation and Consent Process, Pre and Post-Management of the Surgical Patient, Assessment of the Surgical Patient, and Ophthalmic Surgical Instrument Care and Handling.
Day 2 begins with the Keynote Address by Andrew Mays, MD. He is not only a talented ophthalmologist but also an award winning pianist. His life is truly inspirational.
Day 2 continues with new ophthalmic technology, Intra-operative Aberrometry to Improve Refractive Results after Cataract Surgery, and Educating for Women’s Eye Health. Other course highlights are Premium Lenses in Patients with Glaucoma, and Intense Pulse Light for Dry Eye Syndrome. The day will close with Networking Sessions and Basic Ophthalmic Pathology. Networking Sessions will cover Mitomycin Care and Handling, Research 101, Infection Control in the ASC, and Surgical Instrument Care. These sessions are always well received and give us the opportunity to speak personally to experienced members of the ophthalmic team. Basic Ophthalmic Pathology promises an excellent slide presentation --don't miss it!
Day 3 opens with Free Papers and the Edna Ashy Lecture. The meeting continues with courses: New Trends in Retina Care for the Diabetic Patient, Electronic Medical Records, Evaluation and Management of Tearing, and Management Skills - Staff, Recruitment, Retention and Team Building and more. The meeting closes with 4 exciting courses: Lasik 2010, Risk Management with a panel of experts, Advances in Corneal Transplantation and Compliance with Medicare: Conditions for Coverage.
We are living in the changing world of healthcare. Many of us have already experienced its impact on our profession.
I hope that you will be able to join us in Chicago, have some fun, and improve the health of your professional life.
I look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
